Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about starting your therapeutic journey, session structures, and practical arrangements.

What can I expect from our first session?

Our initial full session provides a welcoming, confidential space to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you hope to achieve. We will explore your current challenges at your own pace and establish how we can best work together.

What does integrative counselling mean?

As an integrative counsellor, I believe that we are all unique and our counselling sessions will reflect this. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor the way we work together to meet your individual needs.

What types of issues do you work with?

I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, life transitions, and personal growth. Whatever you are navigating, we can explore it together.

Do I need to commit to a set number of sessions?

No, you do not need to commit to a fixed block. We can work together short-term or open-ended depending on your goals. We will regularly review our progress together to ensure the support remains helpful for you.

How long and how often do I expect to undergo counselling?

Weekly sessions are ideal for making progress towards your goals.  Each session builds on the last, so frequent sessions enable quicker progress.

Fortnightly meetings are sometimes possible but progress could be slower.

Our agreement is flexible and open to review dependant on your needs.

How long are sessions and how much do they cost?

Sessions last for 50 minutes. The fee is £45 per session, whether attended in person or online.

Are appointments available online or in person?

Both options are available. You can attend face-to-face sessions in Canterbury, Kent, or choose secure online video appointments from the comfort of your own home.

Is the practice easily accessible?

Yes, the Canterbury practice is easily accessible by train, bus, or car, with local public transport links and nearby parking facilities.

Please note there is a flight of stairs to the therapy room.

Toilet facilities available.

What notice period is required if I need to cancel or stop?

Counselling is always voluntary. If you feel therapy is no longer right for you, or if you need to reschedule, simply provide a minimum of 24hrs notice so we can manage your appointment accordingly.

Do I need a referral from my GP to book an appointment?

No referral is needed.  You are free to access counselling whenever you need extra support.  Just contact us directly.
